Who runs Birmingham Senior Advisor?
Birmingham Senior Advisor is an independent senior care referral and advisory service for families in the seven-county Birmingham area; it is not a government agency, an area agency on aging or a facility operator.
Our advisors help families understand their options and connect with licensed providers. Participating communities pay us a referral fee when a family we introduced moves in. That fee never changes what a family pays, and we list every licensed facility on ADPH's roster whether or not it pays us.
Where does our information come from?
Licensing data comes from the Alabama Department of Public Health's Health Care Facilities Directory and Deficiencies postings, nursing home ratings from CMS Care Compare, rules from the Alabama Administrative Code, costs from CareScout's 2025 survey and program details from Alabama Medicaid, ADSS and VA.
We refresh the roster from ADPH and CMS on a regular schedule and date every listing. See our editorial standards.
How do we make money without charging families?
Licensed communities that participate in our network pay a referral fee after a family moves in; families never pay us, and nothing on this site is a paid placement or a paid ranking.
If you prefer to contact facilities directly, every roster row includes the phone number ADPH has on file.
What do our advisors do and not do?
Our advisors listen to your situation, explain Alabama's rules and programs, suggest licensed options that fit, and help arrange tours; they do not make medical, legal or financial decisions, determine program eligibility or provide care.
| Our advisors do | Our advisors do not | |
|---|---|---|
| Options | Suggest licensed settings that fit the need | Recommend unlicensed providers |
| Rules | Explain Alabama licensing and programs | Give legal or tax advice |
| Tours | Help schedule and prepare questions | Pressure a decision |
Which areas does Birmingham Senior Advisor serve?
We serve families looking for care in Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Walker, Blount, Chilton and Bibb counties, from Birmingham, Hoover and Vestavia Hills to Jasper, Pell City, Oneonta, Clanton and Centreville.
Many of the families we hear from live elsewhere and are moving a parent closer to them in the Birmingham area. Our moving guide covers what changes at the state line, and our county pages list every licensed option ADPH shows in each county.
How do we protect families' information?
We use what a family shares only to help with their search, share it with a facility only when the family asks us to, and never sell it; families can ask us to delete it at any time.
See our privacy policy for details.
How can families reach us?
Use the care-match form on any page or email advisors@birminghamsenioradvisor.com; an advisor will follow up, usually the same business day.
We never require a phone call to see our listings; every roster on this site is open to everyone.
